A respected client in Shakopee, MN is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Transportation Specialist to join their Distribution team. This full-time position supports daily warehouse and shipping operations with a focus on customer satisfaction, accuracy, and logistics coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and manage bulk fertilizer and finished goods shipments with carriers
Consolidate orders to optimize truckloads and minimize costs
Communicate professionally with customers via phone, email, and in person
Work closely with the Customer Service team to trace lost shipments and coordinate order replacements
File freight claims with carriers and follow through to resolution
Support the Warehouse Supervisor with cycle counts and general tasks
Collaborate with the Distribution Manager on operational needs
Maintain accurate shipping documentation and freight records
Create spreadsheets and reporting for internal teams
Back up Transportation Supervisor as needed
Requirements:
Previous experience in logistics or transportation required
Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
Proficiency with PC tools and office equipment
Ability to stay calm and effective under pressure and during seasonal surges
Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines
Position Details:
Hours per Week: 40
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Flexible schedule open to discussion)
Days: Monday through Friday
