Job Summary:
As a 1st Shift Plastic Cutting Operator, you will play a crucial role in our production processes by operating specialized equipment to cut and shape plastic materials. Your attention to detail and technical expertise will be essential in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our operations.

Compensation and Benefits:

Familiarity with hands-on tools and standard laboratory testing equipment.

Perform routine testing (hands-on operations) and sample preparation.

Responsible for overall performance of assigned laboratory tests or projects including but not limited to timelines, quantity, and quality of generated data.

Responsible for generation of appropriate chemical or physical properties reports that meet customer needs and/or test specifications.

Adhere to company policies and internal operating procedures from the ISO 17025 quality system during the measurement/testing process.

Ability to work within fast paced laboratory environment.

Ability to adhere to strict safety protocols.

Ability to take ownership of all duties related to Test Lab Operations.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Ensure work is performed in a safe manner using all available safety equipment.

 Job Skills & Knowledge 

• Associate’s degree of applied Science, Chemical Technology or a related field preferred.
• High School Diploma.
• Minimum of one year of work experience in environmental, corrosion, chemical or material science laboratory, including the following:
• Prior experience in accredited test laboratory ISO 17025, NVLAP, A2LA, NADCAP.
• Prior experience with Polarized Light Microscope (PLM).
• Prior experience with Accelerated Weathering testing (UV Exposure, Xenon Arc).
• Prior experience with testing of Coatings, Paints, Surface Finishes.
• Prior experience with sample preparation techniques and ICP-OES.
• Demonstrated experience as being highly motivated and self-directed.

 

• Proficient with applications and computer-based file structures.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities of the Chemical Mixer

Maintains a clean work environment
Adheres to safe usage and handling of chemicals
Computes and adjusts mixture formulas when necessary
Blends chemicals based on predetermined formulas
Inspects batches to insure they are properly mixed
Works with the lab to receive batch approval prior to the batch going to the fill room
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department
Analyzes work problems and assists in solving problems
Suggests plans to achieve work goals
Assist other departments when necessary
Inspects materials and keep detailed inventory records to include chemical quantity and location

Ensure all safety policies and procedures are adhered to in the plant.

Works with minimal input from the Senior Compounder.

Sets up and start all mixing tanks and blenders.

Product line support.

Obtains and understands all documentation for making batches. Ensures correct ingredients are used for each batch.

Accurately adding chemicals/ powders into blend tanks and ribbon blender tanks in predetermined quantities.

Operates equipment (mixers, scales, meters, pumps, forklifts, etc.) safely.

Monitors raw material usage on each blend are added correctly with right weights.

Ensures all raw materials returned to inventory have the right quantity and information on containers and containers are in good condition.

Follows lab instructions regarding logging of samples to Quality, batch approval, adjustments, and any additional requirements.

Forklift experience (must have a valid driver's license) 

Must be available for weekends

• Able to set up and troubleshoot weld machines 
• Experience with all five basic weld joints (Butt, Lap, Corner, Tee Or Edge Joint)
