You’ll load yarn packages/beams to the creel, tie-in ends, patrol for breaks, and support operators so the machine makes first-quality carpet without stoppages. Key Responsibilities
Load yarn packages/beams to the correct spindles per schedule and color/lot specs.
Thread yarn through guides/eyelets and tie ends to maintain a continuous supply; clear and re-start breakouts.
Patrol the creel, keep all running spindles supplied; stop machine only when necessary to resolve issues safely.
Assist tufting operators with backing changes and basic line support to minimize downtime.
Perform basic housekeeping and 5S in creel aisles; keep yarn waste low and threads organized.
Communicate yarn shortages/lot changes to lead or supervisor; follow production tickets and quality checkpoints.
Skills & Qualifications
Prior textile/tufting/creeling experience preferred; on-the-job training available at many Dalton mills.
Ability to read production tickets, lot numbers, and color IDs; attention to detail with ties and thread path.
Basic mechanical awareness (guides, eyelets, tension); teamwork with operators and mechanics.
Safety-first mindset; follows LOTO and plant procedures.
Physical Requirements
Stand/walk most of shift; reach above shoulder level to load higher spindles.
Lift/pull yarn packages (frequency varies by denier/package size).
Navigate narrow creel aisles; repetitive tying/handling of yarn.
