Machine Tool Builder Job DescriptionPosition Summary: The Machine Tool Builder is responsible for assembling, fitting, installing, and rebuilding precision machine tools and automated equipment according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to work with tight tolerances.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assemble mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machine tools
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
Fit and align machine components to precise tolerances
Install bearings, gears, shafts, motors, and control systems
Perform troubleshooting and adjustments during machine build and testing
Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, levels)
Assist with machine startup, testing, and debugging
Collaborate with engineers and electricians during build process
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Document build progress and modifications
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical degree or apprenticeship in machining, mechanical technology, or related field preferred
3+ years of machine building or industrial assembly experience preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints and schematics
Experience with precision measuring tools
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Reliable attendance and ability to work independently or on a team
Work Environment:
Industrial/manufacturing setting
Exposure to machinery, metal components, and shop tools
Requires standing, bending, lifting, and occasional overhead work
Use of PPE such as safety glasses and steel-toe boots required
